Our production network is completely transparent. Each pair features a unique QR that links to details of the artisan group involved connecting consumers with makers.
Empowering Artisans: We provide sustainable and consistent employment opportunities through the year giving economic stability for our artisans and their families through fair wages while doing what they love - knit.
Handcrafted Slow: Each pair is unique and handcrafted slowly preserving traditional knitting techniques that have been passed down through generations. Chilote Shoes have been co-created by designer Stiven Kerestegian and knitting cooperatives we partner with in Patagonia.
No factory: We have a community based production model where our artisan partners set their own schedules and do not need to commute to larger cities allowing them to remain within their family while earning a reliable income.
By purchasing a pair of Chilote Shoes you finance the planting of native trees in Patagonia contributing to the ecological preservation of its unique ecosystems.
Climate Positive: We operate as a climate positive business by having complete transparency and measuring, minimising and offsetting everything across our sustainable and inclusive business model.
Why support forests?: Trees are absolutely essential to deter the most negative effects of human made climate change. The conservation and reforestation efforts in Patagonia directly support interconnected natural ecosystems at a planetary scale.
How?: Through a partnership with Fundación Reforestemos Chilote Shoes finances the planting of trees in Patagonia to restore native species and help regenerate unique Patagonian ecosystems.
